Sunshine Blogger Award!

Sunshine Blogger Award

Most of the time, I hate waking up on Monday. After being able to sleep in and relax all weekend, I have to return to the daily grind of school and work. This last Monday morning was a little bit different. As my alarm went off and I hit snooze (I can’t deny it, I have to set 5 alarms to get up), I noticed that there were A LOT of alerts. It took my sleep dazed mind a second to realize that the notifications were due to someone nominating me for the Sunshine Blogger Award! I couldn’t believe it at first but as I sifted through the thread, I grew so excited that I got up and did a little happy dance. I’d like to take a moment here and thank Paige from paigespugmark. Thank you, not only for nominating me for the Sunshine Blogger Award, but for also making me love waking up on a Monday morning.

I have to admit, I’m VERY new at blogging, and I had to do some research about what this award is and what it means to be nominated. The Sunshine Blogger Award is an award for bloggers who are positive, inspiring and bring some sunshine into people’s lives. It is also used as a networking tool to help people find other bloggers, which is awesome! Receiving this nomination so early is such an honor and I can’t express how much it means to me. I have also discovered that there are some rules that come with this, and a series of questions to answer. So here we go!!!

Rules:

  1. Thank the blogger who nominated you by linking their blog
  2. Answer the questions
  3. Nominate 11 blogs with 11 questions
  4. List the rules as well as display the Sunshine Award Logo on your post

Q and A:

  1. What advice would you give to somebody who has recently started a blog?

The advice I would give to somebody who has recently started a blog is to be completely yourself, plan ahead and don’t get caught up with the numbers. All that matters is that you’re enjoying yourself and the posts that you’re writing. The readers can feel when you’re passionate and excited. Letting your personality shine through makes your work unique and identifiable. The numbers don’t matter. Focus on the quality and consistency of the content you’re producing, and don’t let yourself be swept up or stressed about who is following you. It will all happen in time, have patience.

2. What is your favorite blog post you have written?

My favorite post I’ve written would have to be… oh dear it is so tough to decide. It would have to be either my Shadowhunter’s Evolution or my book review of Jackaby. I love every one of my posts, but I enjoyed writing those two the most. It was so much fun being able to break down and discuss my thoughts on each.

3. Favorite book?

YOU CAN’T ASK ME THAT!!! THERE’S TOO MANY!!!
Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling was the first book to make me fall in love with reading. I grew up reading the books and watching the movies. In a way they are the books I will never tire of and the story that has the deepest spot in my heart. I also love Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I have been completely obsessed with it for years and often reread it.

4. What is your earliest memory?

One of my earliest memories is being at the park with my parents. It was sunny and a little windy, and my dad had a football. He was playing with me, tossing the football to me and trying to get me to throw it back. There are a few others, but that is the absolute earliest memory I have.

5. How do you wind down at the end of a busy day?

There is a few ways I wind down, but most of the time I like to make some chamomile or peppermint tea, and curl up in bed. I like to have a book and play peaceful piano music in the background. I usually will keep the light dim, or light a candle as well. Sometimes if it was super stressful, I’ll pamper myself a little with a bath or face mask.

6. Can you cook? (If so, what is your favorite meal to make?)

I’m still learning to cook but I can bake well. My favorite thing to bake is gluten free cookies with semisweet and bittersweet chocolate and walnuts. You wouldn’t expect it, but these cookies are so simple to whip up and taste stunning. The dough makes the cookies soft and airy and the nuts add a nice chunky and crisp texture. I love making them, and they’re by far my most requested cookies.

7. Do you have any weird obsessions?

I have many obsessions but I don’t know if I’d categorize them as “weird”. I love peacocks a lot, they’re absolutely gorgeous and actually looked into buying one. I (sadly) will have to wait until I’m older and have a nice big farm for it to roam. I have satisfied my love for them by buying peacock decoration. I have decorated my room in blues, purples, and greens as well. Is that weird?

8. Are you proud of your blog? (If no, how come?)

Yes, I am proud of my blog. I’ve been able to imbue my work with passion and find a topic I love to write about. It is 100% me and I’ve put a lot of work into every aspect of it.

9. How do you stay organised?

I think the better question would be “How do you attempt to stay organized?”. I use a planner and have designated spots for my things so I can put them away consistently. I prefer to go with the flow of my day and do things that are a priority first, like homework assignments. Afterwards, I can finish some work early, or for fun, such as my blog posts.

10. Favorite type of chocolate?

Does this question mean brand or just type? Well my favorite brand would be Lindor (pricier but FANTASTIC). My favorite type would be a toss up between milk chocolate or bittersweet, depending on the day.

11. Dogs or cats?

I love both, and currently have a pet cat, but I have a special soft spot for dogs and want to get one in the future. I don’t know what breed yet, but I love big dogs the best.
